The number of employees working on the construction site is at its highest during installation work: up to 2,500 people between autumn 2016 and spring 2017. Most of the workforce are installers, with a couple of hundred employees working in construction. Subcontractors included, altogether around 600 companies are in operation at the construction site.
Since the turn of this year, seasoned pulp professionals and project experts have been busy with installation work. Every year, 6.5 million cubic metres of wood will be converted into high-quality pulp on the mill’s state-of-the-art fibre line. Besides pulp, the bioproduct mill will produce various other bioproducts. This June, installations began on the fibre line’s wood processing section, and have continued this autumn in full steam on the kiln drying department. Testing of the automation systems has also commenced.
The kiln drying department’s trial runs will begin next May, with pulp from the current mill. In terms of wood processing, the production of wood chips will start in July 2017.
