Lappeenranta sawmill produces pine sawn timber for a range of industries. Applications for pine sawn timber include for instance:
- High-quality glulams, log houses and the woodworking industry
- Planed goods, the manufacture of windows and doors as well as finger jointing
- Packaging industry
- Skirting boards
- Thermally modified timber
Approximately 70 per cent of the Lappeenranta sawmill’s production is exported. The annual wood consumption is approximately 480,000 cubic metres of pine, and the share of certified wood is 99 per cent.
In 1960, Metsäliitto Cooperative made the decision to build a new sawmill in Lappeenranta, and the sawn timber production started in 1963.
