Besides pulp, the Ääbioproduct mill produces a significant amount of biopower and heat as well as other bioproducts, including tall oil, turpentine, product gas and sulphuric acid. The bioproduct mill serves as a growth platform for an industrial ecosystem in which different companies utilize the side streams of pulp production or engage in the further processing of pulp. We are studying new bioproducts and processes all the time, since their possibilities are nearly infite. The most interesting paths of future development involve processed lignin and textile fibres. The inauguration of the bioproduct mill was celebrated in Äänekoski on 18 October 2017.
