The conference, titled “The Outlook of China Pulp
Market Demands in 2017”, included speakers from the local industry,
market analysts and Metsä Fibre’s Harri Vertanen, Vice
President, East & Southeast Asia. His presentation, “What it takes
to build a megaproject”, detailed the background and different stages of
the new Äänekoski bioproduct mill. With a yearly production capacity of
1.3 million tons, the new mill will answer to the growing demand of
softwood pulp. Vertanen noted how the mill will also give rise to an
expanding ecosystem of partner companies, utilizing all the sidestreams
of pulp production.
During the week, Metsä Fibre arranged a fun
opportunity to take a photo against a backdrop
of the construction site of the bioproduct mill, which proved very
popular with visitors!
