Metsä Fibre has launched a modern alternative to traditional channels for trading pulp. The new online platform PulpExchange.com is available for all customers, enabling registered users to bid for and purchase various pulps. The main ambition motivating the development of PulpExchange.com has been to arrange the most user-friendly way of sourcing non contractual pulps. The platform will continually offer delivery of hundreds of tonnes of NBSK and birch pulp varieties to principal European ports.
"The PulpExchange site has been well received since it opened for trading in January 2015, and already attracts several hundred monthly visits. Users have shown great interest in our groundbreaking concept and found the service efficient and easy to use," says Kustaa Laine, Technical Sales Director, Metsä Fibre.
"I thought the idea of an online pulp auction sounded good and was intrigued to see this new and innovative way of pulp trading go live. My first impressions are that the service is fairly simple to use and has some interesting pulp lots available at all times. Although our pulp needs are mostly covered by yearly contracts, I will be following the auctions for the occasional deal. I do believe this is the way forward," says Romain Baldi, Category Manager, Pulp at Munksjo Oyj.
Constantly pushing for renewal and innovation is a cornerstone of Metsä Fibre's operations. The company's long experience and deep understanding of customer requirements ensure consistent delivery of innovative pulp-based products and services, catering to the specific needs of the modern world. PulpExchange is an example of the Metsä Fibre's ongoing effort to enhance its products and services, and to deliver tangible customer benefits.
"Encouraged by positive customer comments and user activity, we are now looking into expanding the service also to other markets outside Europe," Laine adds.
