Sustainable packaging from Nordic fibre
Nordic long fibre pulp is especially suitable for use in packaging materials, because of its strength and high plasticity. The global trend of replacing fossil-based plastics with sustainable alternatives offers fresh softwood pulp a competitive edge as a safe, renewable and recyclable material.
As a joint effort between Metsä Board, Metsä Fibre and GreenDoer, Metsä Board’s innovative SkinCare gift box design was introduced this October at the Luxe Pack 2017 trade fair in Monaco. The carton design utilizes lightweight materials, eliminates the need for plastic wrap and offers a unique opening and reclosing feature.
High-quality molded PULP
The inner tray, as well as the outer packaging, are made of molded fresh fibre pulp from Metsä Fibre. The cartons use both Metsä Board’s folding boxboards and microflute structures made of Metsä Board’s white kraftliners. The product clearly demonstrates how plastic can be easily replaced with sustainable fibre materials, producing a high-quality, smooth structure, with excellent printing qualities.
The new SkinCare carton structures offer a 20% to 30% weight reduction when compared to traditional cartons.
